Carl Arriens (* 12. March 1869 in Heide (Holstein) ; ca. 1930 † ) was a German painter and illustrator.

Around 1900, Carl Arriens worked for the Sunlicht publishing house, which then published a series of novels in Art Nouveau book covers. In 1909 Arriens lived in Berlin. He was then admitted to the Berlin Anthropological Society as a painter and illustrator. Another such message, this time with the address details Berlin-Friedenau, is found in the Journal of Anthropology 47, No. 1 of 1915.

Arriens participated in the German Inner Africa Research Expeditions No. IV and VI by Leo Frobenius . This took place from 1910 to 1912 and from 1912 to 1914. In addition to the drawings, which he made on these expeditions, he also created illustrations for novels and templates for school murals.  He apparently signed with C. Arriens.

Apparently, he later also worked as a travel writer; In 1924, for instance, mosaics of peoples' life came out , in 1927 under Kabyles and Bedouins, and in 1928 at the hearth-fire of the Blacks .

Already since 1907 Arriens was a member of the Berlin Masonic Lodge Zum Pegasus .
